The origins of paisley

Paisley print is an ornate pattern that resembles a curved teardrop. It's an acquired taste, but the ones who like it (like Eric's brother Adam) really like it. My dad has a few paisley ties. Paisley has its origins in India, but was named after the Scottish town of Paisley, which manufactured a lot of cotton and wool fabrics in the 19th century (from wisegeek.com). The print was very popular in the mod fashion of the 1960s, and John Lennon even had his Rolls Royce painted in a Paisley print.
