How to date your vintage garment: VFG label resource

Say you just found this amazing dress and you want to find out more about the garment. I found this Jonathan Logan dress at an estate sale:

It was pretty and well constructed, but I knew nothing about the designer. Fortunately, the Vintage Fashion Guild website has a label resource that includes short blurbs about the designer/label. If you're lucky there will be a photo of the label from different decades to help you date your item.

This darling dress is either from the 1940s or 1950s, a piece that exemplifies the "classy and dressy" Jonathan Logan style.
